About us

The Associazione Italia Israele di Alessandria promotes knowledge, dialogue and cooperation between Italy and the State of Israel, with the aim of strengthening the cultural, political and social ties that unite the two countries. Through meetings, cultural exchanges and initiatives aimed also at young people, it builds bridges between our city and Israel.

On 7 October 2023 more Jews were killed than on any other day since the end of the Shoah. Three years after the massacre we return to the synagogue to remember the victims and the hostages, to stand with their families and to respond, with facts and sources, to those who deny or downplay what happened.

Fighting antisemitism is an essential part of our commitment, whatever form it takes and wherever it comes from. We oppose anti-Jewish prejudice, the falsification of history and any attempt to justify violence against Jews.

In Alessandria this commitment also means knowing the city's Jewish history, recovering the stories of the people and families who contributed to its life and valuing the heritage they left us. Alongside this we offer opportunities to encounter contemporary Jewish culture, through people, ideas, literature and the arts, because knowing also means moving beyond superficial representations and deep-rooted prejudice.
