7 October 2023
A source no one can call pro-Israel
On 19 December 2024 Human Rights Watch published a report accusing the Israeli authorities of deliberately depriving Gaza's population of adequate access to water since October 2023, destroying water and sanitation infrastructure and restricting the entry of fuel and electricity. According to HRW, this conduct has likely caused thousands of deaths and amounts to the crime against humanity of extermination and to acts of genocide. The Israeli Foreign Ministry rejected the accusations, calling them "lies".
We cite this report to make clear what kind of source we are quoting. Human Rights Watch is among the organizations most critical of Israel, and its conclusions on 7 October cannot be dismissed as Israeli propaganda. It is this same organization that calls Hamas's version false and documents the massacre of civilians.
